The Institute of Social and cultural studies is a scientific research-based institution that seeks to establish the required backgrounds for local science production in the fields of humanities, and respond to the diverse and concomitant social and cultural issues of higher education. Given the existing gaps and deficiencies in humanities and social/ cultural studies scientific policy system; the Institute has focused on the study and extension of theoretical principles and production of applied knowledge in the last 3 years.
The Institute main perspectives and policies include conducting the social and cultural studies, developing concomitant humanity fields as related to the fundamental and applied issues, and creating the required scientific methodological frameworks and mechanisms for developing local studies while it identifies and address the problems of this field of inquiry. Besides the centeredness of production and development of local knowledge in research policies and studies, the Institute follows a critical stance towards the findings of social and cultural studies and the data collection procedures and turning it to the research findings and creating the research models through transformations, restructuring to prepare a relative response to the social needs and expectations.
Given this and in accordance with the Institute’s policies, the publication center of the Institute is responsible to publish the research findings in scientific and research groups and in line with the intellectual taste of the scientific society of Iran. This publication attempts to evaluate the recommended books, reviewed by the experts, and-in case it meets the required scores- prepare them for publication. After publication, the necessary facilities are created for audiences the through dialogue with intellectuals and centers for disseminating scientific and cultural books.
The research Institute has embarked on its formal and organized activities since 2005 and has published more than one hundred books, journals and special issues. In general, the published books could be divided in six categories:
A: the Institute’s research Findings: given the Institute’s policies, the categorizing and publishing the research findings of the research groups is the primary mission of the Institute. Each research group conducts various researches in accordance with the research priorities. Then, they will be sent to the publication center which will be published after being confirmed by the publication council.
B. Translated Scientific Texts: given the increasing pace of the scientific changes; the increase of continual scientific productions in humanities and socio-cultural studies; and the necessity of awareness and new theories; the translation is considered as the other priority of the Institute. Given this into the account, the translated books will be published.
C. the required books of the Ministry, Universities and Students: one of the Institute’s missions besides the research and translation books is book publishing in line with students’ needs and requirements. Addressing the principles of the fields of studies concerned with the students’ studies with regarding the applicability is what distinguishes these books from other publications of the Institute.
D: the published books through collaboration with other scientific centers and Universities:
These books are distinguished from the general publication trend of the Institute from two perspectives: first, these books bear less accordance with the institute’s activities but the Institute publishes them in line with the supportive policies of the Institute; and second, shared books to expand the publishing interactions and making use of the capabilities and capacities of other scientific centers and organizations.
E: the Institute’s scientific journals: two scientific journals of “Cultural Studies” and; “the Interdisciplinary Studies in Developing the Humanities” are published by the Institute. The Journal of Cultural Studies, which has been published for one, is a quarterly that is particularly concentrated on issues like lifestyle, the Culture of Media, and intercultural relations. The second journal which has been recently approved, has published the following 3 volumes: “the Interdisciplinary Studies: Principles and Concepts”; “Interdisciplinary Studies in Higher Education”, and “the Interdisciplinary Curriculum”.
F: Scientific quarterly in collaboration with Scientific Association: In line with the supportive policies of the Institute, the collaboration with associations of sociology, political sciences, higher education and anthropology, the shared publication of their scientific journals is supported. It worth mentioning that up to now, the Institute has collaborated with the respected associations to published the following volumes: 8 volumes of the Research Journal of Political Sciences; 9 volumes of the quarterly of Sociology, 3 volumes of the quarterly of higher education and 9th volume of the quarterly of the Letter of Anthropology.

The Institute’s publication offer two types of services: first, selling books in bookstores and the publishing center and second in the online form. You can refer to one of the following stores or order online:
